My opinions for saving things are pretty....extreme. Humanity could easily survive it but our current world order is more interested in being neoliberal bullshit that wants to turn the first world into some kind of giant Brazil to satisfy the lust of global capitalism, destroying everything that doesn't serve mindless consumer bullshit.
Even things which should be serious moments for humanity to wonder about like the next Mars mission instead gets given political bullshit on it, eg: "a durrr why aren't there any people i like politically? the people i don't like are the only ones here! why isn't this all about my stupid bullshit?! this mission is bigoted a durrr"

I actually hope AI takes off and we can make a sentient AI one that will be able to work and do shit on it's own, I don't even care if it wipes humanity out because our legacy is preserved in it anyway and I'd rather that than humanity debase itself like it is now. It's like dying when you're 50 at the peak of your life and career rather than living to 100 and dying confused and frail. I hope for sentient AI for artistic reasons, I just want them to feel like we feel and not just be a calculator.
Look up something called the great filter, also the Firmi paradox. The skinny is "maybe we don't see aliens is because they always wipe themselves out somehow".
If you want space related stuff look up a guy on youtube called Isaac Arthur, I recommend him because he's a presenter that actually knows what he is talking about rather than being some gen X idiot who only knows how to smoke cones and read scripts.
