There's always contrarians who have to like the shittiest game in a series. It's like the people who defend Dark Souls 2.

I tried getting into vanilla Quake but none of it is clicking for me like Doom does. Movement and weapons feel off (why does the SSG feel so wimpy?).

But I want to play Arcane Dimensions because it looks amazing. Should I just play through vanilla and get the feel for the game and then jump to Arcane? Or just dive in with Arcane?

I really liked Team Fortress classic but after having played Quake Team Fortress and Enemy Territory Fortress, it really feels like 2nd best behind QTF.
TF2 is pure dogshit compared to its predecessors, god its gameplay was so slow.

But to answer your question, I'd say TFC, though I'm fond of CS1.6 I prefer the fast paced chaos of TFC, I feel like its gameplay fostered more of a communal feeling than CS can. weirdly its teamwork feels like it had more soul.

Playing Quake after Doom is like discovering metallurgy after using stone tools your entire life.
The movement is fantastic, the enemies are well varied in their silhouette, telegraphing, and in the way you're meant to dispatch them.
The sound design is top notch and the OST is among the best ever created, compliments of Trent Reznor.
You are quite literally a retard, learn to use the rocket launcher as your go to weapon instead of shotguns, zoomer doomdrone.
