Sega and Brazil always had a very strong relationship. All of their hardware from the MS to the Dreamcast had official brazilian releases. The Master System sold extremely well over here, and people loved it. To the point where the sales remained steady after many years, so Sega let TecToy, the brazilian company responsible for their hardware here to keep making it. Hell, last year I managed to find a Sega CD new in box on a store that used to sell 'em back in the day, as they were clearing their forgotten stock or some shit. Too bad there was no 32x.
They are still made here, though the current ones don't have all the features and great build quality of a few years back, since the sales are very slow now.

Brazilian here. It's still popular with hardcore Sega fans and poor families. Pic related is the last model of Master System by Tec Toy. Sadly, the hardware is really, really cheap (well, it was made by ATGames, so, yeah...) and some games don't work very well.

Personally, i'm not a big fan of this console but it was a part of my childhood. I grew up with Nintendo (SNES was the most popular 16-bit console here and I rarely saw Genesis or MS catriges in rental stores. Every normie knew what a SNES was) but my Sega friends had Master Systems and I used to play some cool titles like Sonic the Hedgehog, Ninja Gaiden and Kenseiden with them.
