I love them too, it has a lot of charm, but when I look at with while trying to remove all of my own bias, and see it more objectively... it hasn't aged as well. I mean, Genesis Aladdin looks just like its film, which is exactly what you'd want from a film adaptation into a video game, and yet the PS1 title, which was technically superior hardware, is quite goofy looking nowadays, it's ridiculous.

I miss how big leaps were sort of standard back then, I mean, going from the 3rd generation into the 4th, and then 3D with the 5th, and some good looking 3D in the 6th, then HD in the 7th... and after that it sort of reached a plateau, I'm rarely truly impressed by a new video game in the graphics side of things... while back then I'd be stunned a lot more often. What a shame...

I think it's for the same reason we appreciate all other technical limitations, it's incredible seeing people push technology to its limits, and getting these low polygon models to look as accurate as they could back then, hard not to appreciate it...
