>PVM-1354Q to replace my generic brand 13" CRT
>Is it worth picking up?
A PVM is really just a normal CRT with few (if any) geometry issues and a better interface for color/brightness/contrast control. The ability to put it in underscan can be nice since it'll probably be the only time you'll see the "whole" game outside of an emulator. Also, Aperature Grille looks a lot better IMO than Shadowmask.
But really, if you can get a consumer trinitron you won't be missing out on much, and can save quite a bit of money.
>If yes, is it worth $250?
fuck no. check craigslist for your local major city, I guarantee you you'll find something at a good price. I spent $70 for a 14" last month that has almost no hours (was in a church) and was made in 2004, and I still think I probably overpaid by about $10-20. If you were talking about a 27" or larger then maybe, but otherwise you should try to stay under $60 and never go over $100.
>I've only ever seen low quality CRT screens
If you're using composite/RF on a PVM, you'll be disappointed. All the images ITT are of people using RGB SCART or YPbPr (aka, component). If you plan to mod for those outputs, then you'll get a lot more use out of a PVM, but otherwise there's not much point.
