You're crearly wrong, Super Castlevania IV has one of the most iconic soundtracks of the franchise, just listen to Simon's theme:

There's a lot of experimental and atmospheric tracks, for example: Forest of monsters, The cave(it sounds like something from chrono trigger), the waterfall, Spinning tower, Treasury room, and the list continues.

What are other examples of background elements reacting to the player's actions?
Other than gif related I remember Bison's stage on SF Alpha 2, the 2 dudes salute him everytime he's near, it's hilarious. I'm guessing there's more examples like this on fighting games but right now I can't remember any.
What about platformers or 2D action games?
