Try AD&D: Treasure of Tarmin (also known as Minotaur) for Intellivision. I still like it because of its randomness, you can choose a difficulty level but each map in randomly generated so it will be a little different each time you play. Think you can get it on the Intellivision Lives or Intellivision Rocks collection.

Never played that but played the crap out of the AD&D games.

The Cloudy Mountain one was more action / adventure oriented but Treasure of Tarmin was a good turn-based RPG with a surprisingly large assortment of monsters to fight, with different strength levels depending on their color, and a lot items / weapons that you could use as well. There were even secret spells that you could do that let you see through or walk thru walls, transport around the stage etc. I got A LOT of replay value out of it, as it is random each time you play and could be pretty deep if playing longer games.

It's definitely worth checking out & playing but starting it on the harder difficulty levels can take a LONG time to beat (need save states) so it's best to start on the easy ones first

This doesn't exactly look like 16 bit software to me. And if you wanted to get really technical, the Genesis used a 16/32-bit Motorola 68000 CPU, and a secondary sub processor as well, meaning that it still made Phantasy Star II the first of it's kind.
