Heads up to DOSBox users as well. DOSBox emulates an xbox contoller as a pair of two button analog joystiks: joystick 1 is left stick, X and A buttons, joystick 2 is right stick, Y and B buttons. Many games allow to set the controls for a single car to use two joysticks. To use xbox triggers for throttle and brakes you must use DOSBox remap function - press Ctrl+F1 for this and remap right stick Y+ and Y- to the triggers.
I have tested this in Carmageddon and Nascar Racing 2 - works like a charm. Also, don't forget to set ingame calibration for the analog controls. Unlike PS1 hardware, PC analog joysticks were all over the place and there is no game would work out of the box without calibration.
