I have noticed this with 3D open world games as well
Just making an island or a locked-off square of land where you can explore every inch makes the world feel very small and isolated, whereas unevenly constraining movement within a bigger map makes it feel like there's more going on beyond the borders of the playable space.

like the other anon said, gerudos are the main reason, plus nintendo doesn't always about realism anyway. I also imagined the beaver race waterfall is running from the valley but technically the beach should be flipped vertically unless the river makes a u turn at the end.

anyway not trying to spam the thread but I went back to cover all the place names. still sloppy though. I also shrunk it down a bit.
