The remake feels a bit off lacking the original music, but it's nonetheless great.
Picrel is my choice

Didn't this team went on to produce Shadowrun on SNES? Think they'll get THAT on NSO or will Microsoft cock-block it?

Shadowrun (SNES) has a really banging sound track, and I hope one day people make a Mega Drive cover of it. I really like the percussion / drums they used in the game. From the short drum loops in the chat windows to the ending credits. Never cut a deal with the fucking scalies.

As mentioned before, Shadowrun on SNES is deserving of your attention if you like gritty noir-style games where you have to collect clues to progress while also being an rpg with both western and eastern influences.

yeah that could work, your left hand on the controller w/ access to dpad and L button, your right hand on the mouse. That gives you one more button to work with. Kinda like a rudimentary wiimote+nunchuk combo, or how some DS games required both dpad and stylus control.

Maybe you can make L a "shift key" like button, turning Ok and Cancel on the mouse into Fire Gun and Cast Magic? Eh, either way you'll need to rewrite the game engine. But a Shadowrun hack w/ mouse control you can toggle at any time would be amazing.

I've come up with some builds to aim towards.

Samurai Jake
=============
Body - 20
Magic - 1
Strength - 6
Charisma - 4 or 5 (can have two Shadowrunners in party)
Computer - 1
Firearms - 6
Leadership - n/a (can't install Skill software)
Negotiation - up to player discretion

Can equip:
Firearms - all weapon types
Armor - all armor types

Can learn:
Heal (lv1)

NOTES:
Samurai builds focus on tanking and dishing out physical damage to the exclusion
of everything else. Magic would be at 0 if not for the fact that you have to at least
learn "Heal" to progress the story. Hire shamans and a decker to take care of healing
or jacking into the Matrix.

Neat. Are you able to share any details? Intended goals? Will it be just the base game with expanded areas or an entirely new campaign using the same assets?

I'm a really big fan of the SNES game engine but there's only so many times you can play the game to completion before you get tired of talking to the same NPCs / exploring the same maps.

I've looked into both.

I've had the Genesis rom sitting on my hard drive for years by this point, but I can never take the plunge. I can't get past its graphics. Something about it really rubs me the wrong way. One of these days I'll give it a try.

The MegaCD version seems more like a visual novel, not really my thing. That plus not being translated kills its chances.
