why did stealth games go to shit?

I want to talk Thief, because I think the fan mission images and the "so you want to play some thief" should be updated since taffer patcher for thief 2 is no longer supported
In any case:

So what are your favorite fan missions for thief 1 and 2?
How's the Dark Mod?
Did you like Thief 3? I'm finding it feels a bit...jittery, I dont like it, the AI feels worse and they spaz around quite a bit, and I dont like the open levels
Does deadly shadows at least have good fan maps?

And finally since we are mapping for Quake, how do you feel about possibly doing a mapping project for thief 1/2 in the future? Is Dromed too much of a pain in the ass?

Why is Thief 2 so fucking good? I don't usually play retro games but holy fuck this is amazing.

Will we ever get something like this again in current generation?
