I definitely have more hucards than CD games. CD games targeted a very specific audience that wanted primarily voiced/animated cutscenes and I guess the recorded soundtracks. Personally I'm far more interested in gameplay than story and I actually prefer the 8-bit sound the PCE pumps out over the real digital audio. But I agree with >>4449197 that it's all one great library. On their own they're both good but put them together and you have a game catalogue that's easily one of the best of the era.
