I mean in the sketch, the space in the handheld's shell for the d-pad's metal bar is far wider and not nearly as thin, you can see how thick it is here; >>10595584 But holy shit how the fuck are you supposed to do any diagonals with that thing? It brute force locks you into four directions and it doesn't even fucking return to the center when released.

Oh my god, that really is what they're going for with the d-pad. It's not a good d-pad. It's a pseudo-analog stick design that the fucking Xbox 360 controller's d-pad was trying to emulate here; >>10547517
This device is so fucking close to being awesome but the d-pad fucking rapes it. We don't need a fucking swivel d-pad when the device has TWO FUCKING ANALOG STICKS ALREADY. The entire point of disc d-pads like these are to try to emulate analog sticks but if your device/controller already fucking has analog sticks it's just a third, shittier analog stick without actual analog input.
