I'm very fond of the concept of combining analog stick movement with mouse aiming, but I think there's a lot which could be better with this product specifically. It's kind of just "pretty decent."

Pros:
>Analog stick, good sensitivity, good size and all, good texture and shape, clickable, 9/10
>Comfortable enough shape
>Shoulder buttons are decent, you have three of them
>Facebuttons feel decently clicky
>Runs on a single AA battery, and for a very long time
>Small and light, easy to bring while traveling
>Loop for a wrist strap if you want
>Free shipping

Cons:
>Bar none one of the WORST fucking D-Pads I've ever used in my fucking life, mushy and indefinite, incredibly easy to accidentally input adjacent directions, 0/10
>I wanted to use it for weapon selection, but it's useless that and I simply resign myself to using the scroll wheel on my mouse, like I'm digging through my pockets when changing weapons, so that's not particularly efficient, but it's workable enough
>Instructions not 100% clear, you'll want both the PC and console .pdfs
>Only two face buttons, they're positioned conveniently enough that my thumb can engage them while only barely letting it off the analog stick, but I wish there was more to work with
>USB receiver is needlessly large, primarily using a laptop, it's not exactly great to have that jutting out on the side, I've had my dog damage both the receiver and the USB port on an older computer
>Has a "keyboard" mode, essentially a native Joy2Key setting, but translating an analog stick to WASD feels about as good as it sounds
>There's a dial on the side, which apparently is a vestigial feature for adjusting sensitivity on the console version of this peripheral, it does nothing for PC
>I'm on my 2nd one, as my 1st one somehow broke a face button and also developed stick drift, I got a 3rd as a reserve, thought I had to break it out after my then puppy found and chewed this one up, but it still actually works fine, it's just 'textured' now

Mouse for looking and aiming, also:
>Left: Fire
>Right: Jump
>Forward Thumb Button: Alt Fire
>Rear Thumb Button: Reload
>Scrollwheel Up/Down: Weapon Select
>Click Scrollwheel: Zoom/Iron Sights

Then for my mutant way of playing, using the analog stick for moving:
>Clicking Analog Stick: Crouch Toggle
>Lower Face Button: Use
>Upper Face Button: Automap
>Shoulder 1: Not bound (reserved for mod functions)
>Shoulder 2: Flashlight (autoload)
>Shoulder 3: Usually bound to the grenade function in some mods
>DPad Left/Right: Selecting items in inventory.
>Dpad Down: Use Inventory Item
>DPad Up: Drop Inventory Item

Scrollwheel for changing weapons isn't ideal by any means, but it'll work.
The DPad on pic related is super terrible, so I'm glad I'm not using inventory items often.

Make sure you get the PC version for your PC, also get the instruction .PDFs for both the PC version and the PS3, as the PC version lacks one of the instructions, for resetting the connection, if it ever stops working. Happened once, maybe twice, over many years, "re-pairing" the connection tends to work.
It's not excellent, but it's pretty good. Again, I'd really like the idea to be more popular so more people tried, maybe someone makes a better one, with a good DPad and more face buttons.

For games that don't support analog sticks, what you can to is to flick a switch on the USB receiver to set it to Keyboard Mode, the analog stick will then behave as WASD, and other buttons will do other keys.
I haven't tried playing like this, preferring to to just go back to WASD when I played a game that didn't support it (I still had the knack for it).
