Yeah, I know that. But the GameGear Sonic 2 version of this boss was made harder than the Sega Master System version with screen cropping and randomized boulder drops that made it hard to memorize for a first boss. It's not hard once you know the pattern.

Yeah, once you complete that first boss. The next stage introduces this hang glider mechanic. There really is no explanation to how the hang glider works either. I would die non-stop trying to work out the controls. Though the controls to the hang glider are kind of lime Mario's cape in Super Mario World. I would lose all of my lives on the hangglider stage and going back to that first boss. I did complete Sonic 2 on the GameGear. But it has a pretty steep learning curve for a Sonic game.

I never had a problem with that one, but the hang glider in Sonic 2 (Master System version) fucked me up.
