Why do people worship this game when THPS3 mechanics wise blows it out of the water?

It's okay to be angry. You missed a lot of great franchises.

THPS:
>9 levels all across america
>No manuals, lines are dependent on level design
>Only way to get good at competitions is to grind long lines (the ledges in chicago/the long grind on the wall of burnside/that challenging as hell grind around the outside area of ???)
>Manuals were unheard of
>Individual trick scores mattered much more than multipliers
>Goal of the game is to collect tapes to rise to pro skating fame, just like real skateboarding amateurs
>Secret tapes were places where you'd get a sick photograph/video for your magazine/pro demo

Clunky controls and stiff animations, not to mention an over reliance on fun, but ultimately short downhill levels keep it from being great.
6/10 when compared to the rest of the series.

What was the last GREAT Tony Hawk game? I'd argue 2 was GOAT and the series starting slipping from there. Though the Haunted House stage in TH3 was great.
