I thought, all in all, Eathbound (Mother 2), was the best of the series. Followed closely by Mother 3 and then the original Mother.

The reason Earthbound was my favorite in the end, was its personally relatable themes and characters. In many ways, certain instances struck vital tones that reverberated within my mind in a way that gave me a sort of clarity at that time in my life. A sort of catharsis that was well overdue.

However, Mother 3 remains one of the very few volumes of virtual storytelling to both make me laugh and bring me to tears.

I would definitely recommend them all to serious RPG games.
