Based pasta poster, keeping the Beamdog shills salty.

Not really, no. Experienced players know which cancerous donut steel Beamdog NPCs to avoid, as a first timer you'll end up blundering into all manner of LGBT+ nonsense that the Enhanced Edition was infused with.

You should play vanilla the first time, then try tinkering with mods to flavor the game if you feel like you need to. The Enhanced Edition should be reserved for after you've beaten the game and only if you're either [A]- totally inept at modding and can't play the game without some; [B]- feel the need to have modern political agendas pushed heavily in your game.

Play vanilla the first time through and get an appreciation for what the game is and how it plays. After that, come back and get some recommendation on mods. Generally you're going to want things that refine the mechanics, not content mods.

Don't listen to this poster. The Enhanced Edition was just a cashgrab where they took all the free mods that the community had been working on and slapped them together with a pricetag. The only unique content to EE are some cringeworthy LGBT donut steel companions and some unwelcome changes to the vanilla companions making them more progressive.

Pic related is the "quality content" that Enhanced Edition forces upon you.

But you just modded out all the things that are unique to EE. Might as well play a regular modded BG run.

They added a lot of dialogue to the existing NPCs which ultimately changed their personalities. Take Kivan, the goodly Ranger. In the base game, Viconia is polite to him and he still ends up attacking her because she's an evil Drow. In the Enhanced Edition an evil Orc Blackguard becomes his bestie and convinces him torture and murder is okay because the Orc is a donut steel of Beamdog's.

Or while we're talking about Viconia, she's generally unapologetic about being evil or that the Drow are bad guys. In the Enhanced Edition she gets new lines where she's complaining about how surface dwellers be racist n' shieeet, judging people on the color of their skin.

And that's just examples of damage done to existing NPCs. The NEW content that Beamdog added is a thousand times worse. And even when it's not directly SJW nonsense, the writing is so godawful cringe-worthy, it pulls you out of the game entirely. Pic very much related.

In fairness, not EVERYTHING she added to the base game was political. She included top-tier gems like these too.
