GBC's Spider-Man duology is superb to me. I'll admit that a lot of my nostalgia for the original actually comes from the PS1 version I'm really more familiar with, but this one stands on it's own and has a lot to offer, a MetroidVania style adventure instead of linear levels, I also love its story presentation and especially the dark and moody atmosphere it has compared to the PS1.

It sucks that the jumping and physics feel off, flying enemies are annoying and the sewers, in which you'll spend most of your playtime, is just a pain to navigate... the 2nd title fixed most of its issues, going for a linear level structure, but with way better physics and controls, enemy behavior and level design, it perfects the original in every single way, though the 1st one is still worth it.

I had fun playing it this way too... though it's so clear that they didn't put that much though into it, on the early levels it's wonderful, but when it gets to the sewers, with the lizards and all, it's a pretty impossible task to sneak around due to the environment, with the symbiotes it's kind of better due to the level design, but they're much more aggressive so it ends up being just as bad, you're pretty much forced to sneak around and avoid fighting them, still it doesn't work much. If you're into this title, and stealth, then try out its sequel, it's inferior, but focuses on stealth more.

I mentioned those modern releases in the OP to justify my sudden interest in going back to some older Spider-Man releases, but the thread isn't a modern one at all, it's retro, don't worry. Also, to be honest I haven't been able to get into Sony's new releases as much as the old stuff, so while I'm excited for what's to come, my desire to do a revisiting to some older titles is because I just do enjoy them more for some reason.
