Nice! The Pro offered stereo, and I think the earlier one, 1330, may have been OPL2 but I am not sure. Newer ISA sound cards tend to use OPL3 and it seems like the rest of the internet prefers 3 over 2, so unless I go full Adlib, there's no place for someone like my tastes in SoundBlaster 2.0 equivalent. Most these days would rather Roland midi sounds as that was the premium way to go in those days, which was not how I had it.

Please don't. I don't have another table and this transitory inflation is killing me.

Yeah the MT-32 is DC, center negative, 9V, 650mA (the SC-55 says 500mA) ... but I don't seem to have a brick that matches the mA. Wondering how the official ones looked like.

I prefer OPL2 sounds just a bit more than OPL3 since I have fond memories of the original Soundblaster cards. They've already reverse engineered OPL3, but I wish there were more OPL2 options available now.

That's because some of the chips are no longer produced. It is very uncommon to have something reverse engineered and produced on the cheap. Even the Voodoo 5 6000 is still at an engineering sample at this time with undeveloped drivers. It is probably more cost efficient to use FPGAs to replicate the old chips as the originals are way too expensive.

Fortunately they have now reverse engineered some pretty good sound cards to a very professional level. As for the Voodoo3 the screws or pins don't seem to have a way to release it from the card.

I have a silver heatsink and it is not easy to remove, so I am hoping someone else has experience with this particular Voodoo3 which is AGP instead of OP's PCI version.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking the heat and gravity could affect a 3D printed bracket over some time. Perhaps a combination of plastic zip tie and that tape would be the answer to getting some air onto the heatsink.

Most of my games I got around the turn of the century in bargain bins. I quit video games around the time Dreamcast died. I still do get stuff every now and then to maintain these old things, like this new old sound card.

I always wanted once since Zone 66 advertised it in its instructions. It was always out of reach at its price, so I am just used to the SoundBlaster sound. I think in part of the Ultrasound's desirability was how so much from the demoscene loved using it.

Everyone keeps making new sound devices and emulates OPL3, but I am fond of OPL2 as that is what I remember with my original Sound Blaster. It is a shame that I am a rare person who prefers that particular sound, because even new sound cards go with OPL3. Tyrian's music is still great, but in comparison, the harder hitting OPL2 is how I remember it.

Also, I really like the music in Zone 66 through the same Sound Blaster: https://youtu.be/JnbrosPkq_M

I loved the music of Star Control 2. In fact I prefer the sound from the Sound Blaster, such that I would rather the DOS version. I have no real idea the difference of mods and FM, but it just reminds me of all the cool demos by pirate groups. The oscilloscope view was entertaining to see go with the music in Star Control 2, Halloween Harry sound test, and Tetra Compositor which came with my original Sound Blaster: https://youtu.be/2a6I0FBo0O4 (vid has it in a low framerate, I remember it was much smoother)

The oldest I have still is a 486DX4-100 displaying in VGA. I do not remember any games with dithering as all the monitors were super sharp, much more clear than TVs.

With that socket 7 set, I haven't decided what sound and video, but for processors I hope to give this a try: https://youtu.be/F8s0H5_-SRU
