That means you got the Bluetooth one like I did. I think it's been discontinued but they still sell the 2.4ghz version.

The games themselves were not terrible but review scores went down particularly after they stopped making consoles. Sonic '06 also affected them pretty badly, even though it was literally only one game.

If you want to check out some of the best classic SEGA games, look at the Genesis (+CD and 32X), Saturn, and Dreamcast. Some people also really like Game Gear and SMS. They did have some really good titles after that point though, like the Super Monkey Ball games, Yakuza series, Puyo Puyo, etc. Some even say their other games are better than Sonic now

CD came first and is the better add-on. If you like Genesis, it's a purer SEGA experience than Saturn. 32X "library" has a grand total of forty games, but still several worth playing.

I don't think they're hated, it's more that SEGA during their hardware era was so cool that there's more to discuss about those than the Sonic games that came after that. I liked Heroes and Shadow growing up and I still like the Advance games, but as an adult I prefer SEGA CD and Dreamcast.

No, we can talk about them here now.

It's all relative. SEGA still did pretty outstanding compared to Atari, NEC, SNK, The 3DO Company, Bandai, Commodore. People need to remember SEGA doesn't only do consoles, they are also an arcade company. That is kind of literally the reason they stopped making consoles in the first place. The 32X, Saturn, Dreamcast can all be tied back to SEGA's arcade roots. They were all basically an attempt to bring that experience to home consoles. Once they saw that people didn't want that, they decided it would be safer to just go third-party like Namco, Capcom, and Konami.

Another thing I want to point out is a lot of Sony's success can be attributed to third parties like Square and Konami. A good majority of the "best" PlayStation games came from third parties to begin with.

- They're what I grew up with
- They're free
- They're short, making them less time consuming than modern games
- There's always something new to discover

Retro is way bigger than it looks on the surface. Somebody posted the iceberg image with basic stuff like Mario and Sonic at the tip and more obscure games and consoles toward the bottom. That's sort of what it was like for me. I grew up with all of the basic retro titles that were popular in the 90's but didn't play or discover some of the more obscure stuff until much later on.

It wasn't technically the first but it could handle a lot of effects that PS1 and especially Saturn couldn't

>>10602139
This is probably the most accurate estimation of each platform

>>10602256
The SEGA CD already did a lot of these things, CDX having the Genesis cartridge slot in the back. Saturn was more of a 32X successor with stuff like Virtua Fighter, Tempo, and Stellar Assault. Console gens don't really apply to SEGA, they kind of just made whatever whenever

Well, that is probably the reason it is called... NiGHTS into Dreams ಡ ͜ ʖ ಡ

>>10578208
Makes sense since most Saturn games had sequels on Dreamcast. NiGHTS also had an entire minigame in SA1. I thought Popful Mail and the Lunar games were on Saturn for a while, which technically the latter are, but the more well known ones I was thinking of were the original SCD versions

>>10578558
I noticed this too, though in my case it is also because my first experiences with both consoles were in the summer, during the night and day respectively. In Saturn's case it was literally just one night at my cousin's house until I started emulating it a few years ago

Tee Lopes' style is kind of weird, there is some JP CD influence for sure but it's not quite Naofumi Hataya. It's sort of like when Tomoya Ohtani was first starting out with Sonic Rush Adventure and it just sounded like imitation Hideki Naganuma music from the first game. I think Tee Lopes got better with Team Sonic Racing and more recently Superstars, but also partially due to the assistance of other composers.

>>10279979
There seems to be this notion that every classic Sonic song was made by Naofumi Hataya (or Michael Jackson for some reason) even though they only composed a handful of the stuff from that time period. Masato Nakamura and Jun Senoue should really be the go to for inspiration if they are going for Genesis style music. And I really like Sonic CD but Spencer Nilsen's soundtrack resonates with me more than Hataya's, considering that is the actual version I played as a kid.

We can even take it a step further and say they should aim for Richard Jacques if they want to make it sound more like a Saturn game.

I finally played the first game out of curiosity. It's not bad but I prefer og Streets of Rage and Die Hard Arcade. I feel it would've been a lot better if SEGA had gotten involved like originally planned, especially if they could've gotten Yuzo Koshiro on the team. I still haven't played Fighting Force 2 or Dynamite Cop to compare them, though from what I've seen it's more of an action adventure game than a beat 'em up this time?

N64 did not have a second stick and still has GoldenEye, Turok games, and Perfect Dark. Dreamcast similarly has MDK2, Quake III Arena, and a few other FPS games. It's also kind of silly to mention the GameCube ports since those only came after SEGA went third-party... Like saying the Genesis is bad since you can play a lot of those games on Switch now. If you really don't like Dreamcast though, maybe try Xbox? It has Crazy Taxi 3, Jet Set Radio Future, Panzer Dragoon Orta, and a few other notable SEGA games that probably would've ended up on the Dreamcast at some point.
