How long does it take to beat this game assuming that I'll be playing at a leisurely pace for the first time? How long did it personally take you to complete it when you first played it?

I really like the Nintendo Power one. I didn't grow up reading magazines but It was kind of cool seeing him take a trip down memory lane and commenting on old ads he's seen growing up. He doesn't really swear or talk about shit in this one.

In terms of game reviews, plumbers dont wear ties is the best one.

So I've like got a craving for a fun RPG. How does this game hold up for someone who never played a Mother game?

I've also got an arcade stick and I just want to utilize it as much as I can, just for fun and giggles so i'd reckoned a Snes game would be perfect.

I have two different, yet similar plans to force the price of the rarest game in the world down to a price that would actually make sense to pay. The rarest game ever, of course, being Earthbound, according to the half-dozen listings on ebay at any given time. In any case, if these plans would work, would it be ethical? Just to lower to price, I mean, and make that decision for everyone.

Is it okay to play Earthbound, without knowing about the original mother?

So, /vr/, how do you guys feel about Earthbound?

I like it, but I like mother 3 a lot more. It seems to build on what this game did and make it a lot better.

I finally just finished playing this. Holy shit what a great game. I can't believe how much story it had in it and how much there was to do for a game from that era.

I'm going through and playing all the old RPGs I never got around to playing or finishing when I was a kid. I think I'm going to do Chrono Trigger next. Did I spoil myself by playing Earthbound first or is Chrono Trigger as good or better?

I agree with OP, that game is dog shit and the fanbase is equally dog shit.

These types of hipsters ruin every game, look at Fire Emblem now. Try to talk to a Fire Emblem "fan" about games that weren't Awakening. You'll be met with confusion.

The new game is even worse, these "fans" have turned them into strategy games to pandering garbage.

The worst part is these people don't even play through these games, they'll emulate them, play for 30 minutes, and watch the rest on youtube and act like they're the authority on videogames because they played LE HIDDEN GEM

Earthbound?

Earthbound is art

Now I've only played an emulated version, which is a replica designed to copy the game experience albeit to a flawed extent and not the real game

But it's truly art, let me explain why

Every minute of this game is beautifully crafted, it's as if the souls of mankind intertwined and fused with a videogame to create something more than a game

The first true artistic experience

Fuck those lame asses they call artists today, Picasso and that bullshit

Earthbound takes it to a whole new level. Visual, sound, gameplay, and more importantly: mental enlightenment

Never before have I been face to face with a game I've cared so much about, every character in that game is designed from the ground up to be not only relatable, but desirable

I want to BE Ness, I want to BE Mr. Saturn.

And the end? Oh my god the end. Never before has a videogame brought a grown man to tears so easily. I understood it, I understood everything.

I am pursuing a game design degree at DeVry University solely because of Earthbound.

Before it, I had no purpose in life. But now I understand, I understand my true calling and I understand what I need to do with this soul of mine before I pass on to the next realm.

I need to capture the beauty and true essence of Earthbound once more, channeling these mystic energies into my own concoction. It's the only way I'll ever matter and it's the only way videogames can be saved.

Hail Earthbound my friends, for it truly is the representation of a golden age long lost and you have all had the opportunity to experience it.

You have not lived before you play Earthbound, the magical game.

Earthbound is the Firefly of /vr/.
Technically very good with endearing elements, but if it were as good as its fans so loudly insist, it would literally suck your dick when you opened the case.

I just started playing earthbound and it's so upsetting, I have the best equipment but I die all the time without a chance. Every time I try to run away I can't. The game says that I can get an advantage if I meet the enemy from his back but that's impossible because they face me automatically.
There was a pencil blocking the path so I invested on Orange Kid's invention, because he said it would help me there, but it was useless.
I also gave money to apple kid but I couldn't possibly know his invention could remove the pencil because the game didn't give me a cue.
Now I rescued Paula but she's lvl 1 and dies all the time. Do all party members come at lvl 1? Because if that's how it is the ones you get first will aways be much stronger.
How can this be considered good game design?
I really wanted to like this game, the graphics are lovely and I like the humor but until now i can't say I had a good time because of the gameplay.

Welp, I just finished EarthBound and Chrono Trigger on an android emulator for my phone, today.
I'm looking for sprite-based RPG/Strategy games I should consider. I'm especially fond of SNES and GBA titles, though I'm willing to try other stuff. Not really a fan of stuff before the 16-bit era, since that was the generation I grew up with.

Here's the list of games I've cleared:
>EarthBound
>Chrono Trigger
>Final Fantasy IV-VI, Tactics, and Tactics Advance I & 2
>Ogre Battle and Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis
>Zoids Legacy
>Civilization (Snes)
>Advance Wars 1 &2
>Uncharted Waters: New Horizons
>Pokémon Leafgreen & Emerald
>Robotrek
>Brain Lord

Anything similar to this, or any good, challenging sprite-based RPG/strategy game I can emulate is welcome.

I used to order a pizza in Fourside, wait until it got delivered, and then take the bus to Onett or Twoson and sell it. I would pretend I was a pizza delivery man.

Yes, I lost money on every transaction.

I was a pretty weird kid.
