I said that because Getter Love has party game elements, but you can play it single-player. It's a dating sim/party game hybrid.

I'm not even a big Metal Gear fan, so no fanfiction or high expectations from me, I just say that Goemon DS is highly regarded and a good swan song for the franchise, while MGSV is controverial among fans of the series.

But I guess MGSV at least got released in the west, Konami never gave a fuck about the (admittedly niche) western Goemon franchise outside of N64 times (and they still didn't localize one of the N64 Goemon games).

Bishi Bashi Special for the PS1 is a good one.

For N64 there's also a Goemon game, this was the only one that wasn't released outside of Japan on the 64, so sadly it's unplayable unless you can read japanese, but it's still an interesting one.
It's not really like Mario Party, this one is more like a table top card-based RPG game, similar to Culcept. But I guess it works as a party game too, has 4 players and all. Of course it would be hard enough to find 3 other friends who can read japanese but whatever.
