PowKiddy Q20, Q90, and V90 are a bit cheaper than the TrimUI and can still handle most SNES games aside from some special chip titles. Maybe not quite as powerful as the TrimUI though

If you're on a budget, PowKiddy Q20, Q90, and V90. V90 was actually my introduction to TurboGrafx-CD and a good chunk of the SEGA CD library (I previously only played Sonic CD and only heard of Popful Mail, the Lunar games, and the shmups). Otherwise any device with a good cfw can handle them, these are all very low end systems maybe barring a small handful of PS1 games. Even the off brand handhelds can technically run them, they just aren't supported by the stock firmware/os

Data Frog and CoolBaby have them beat in the budget department, but they do still make some nice lower priced handhelds. I like the Q20, Q90, and V90. Really wish there were more handhelds like these and the og BittBoy

They're not terrible out of the box imo. They tend to get a bad wrap thanks to YouTubers comparing them to OEM Nintendo/Sony products or comparing them to $150 Anbernic devices. For the price they are generally good in my experience. MAME usually depends on the game you want to play, they usually have some CPS-1 and early Neo Geo stuff built in. GBA is usually good across the board outside of some rom hacks and harder to run games.

Something like PowKiddy V90 that already has custom firmware is better for both as they have the highest compatibility and the best performance overall.

If you have $40 to spare, you could get a V90. Probably has the game built in already.
