I love big box PC games, they're so comfy and remind me of those simpler times. I buy them every time I see them in flea markets, no matter what the game is as long as they're cheap, which they usually are because nobody wants them.

Last year I bought total of 4 big boxes: Baldur's Gate, Red Baron II, Actua Soccer, and Destiny. Cost me like 5 euros.

I especially loved it when the big boxes included all those free "feelies" and bonus items in regular boxes that nowadays would be included in special collector's editions. Like this Hunt for Red October that includes the original book in the box, how cool is that?

I love how these boxes sometimes included extra stuff by default, and they weren't even special collector's editions. Hunt for Red October came with the original novel, Ultima games came with cloth map and maybe some amulet, Drakkhen came with mini D&D figurine etc.

There once was a time when video games were sold in these big cardboard boxes and they included all kinds of extra stuff with the game. There was a bigass manual that was usually stylized to look to fit in the theme of the game. For example if the game was a military game, the manual would be labeled as "soldier's handbook" and it would look like one too! If the game was based on a novel and the publishers were extra nice they might had even included the original novel with the game like they did with this game (picture).
Some role playing games included these things called "feelies". They were usually a small amulet or some other little object from the game so that the player could immerse himself and actually feel what the game tells your character feels.
