/vr/ - Retro Games

I just downloaded this on my 3DS (thanks Nintendo). I'd never played Metroid 2. It's really hard to get used to -- the screen size is really a big limitation. It's really strange, it's at that point between Metroid and Super Metroid where they were starting to get it really right. Still, the lack of a mapscreen makes this game extremely frustrating, as do the strange controls (3DS joystick is unnatural for it, and the D-pad feels strange in comparison to the Gameboy one for some reason). Can we talk about this game? How does /vr/ feel about it?

Had it since I was 6. Only killed 6-10 metroids as a kid before giving it up. Recently found my old gameboy games and started playing it again.

This is the game that hooked me on Metroid. I never cared for the first game and feel it's obsoleted as anything but the start of the series thanks to Zero Mission.

This is a really solid Metroid game that a lot of people never got around to playing.
