Why do the HD models receive unanimous flak?

I understand the point of purism, but Blue Shift was always meant to be played this way, as seen in the cancelled Dreamcast conversion, as well as the added diversity of scientists when using the HD models. The retention of the original models can simply be attributed to low-spec inclusivity, as the HD models don't work well under software rendering.<span class="fortune" style="color:#53fc2d">

I understand why they did it but I kinda feel it would've been kino if you were gunning down security guards etc that you had to keep alive in the main game though the black ops dudes were fun to fight as well not not complaining.
