You paid a few dollars, downloaded the rom, and then it was yours, it's still yours if you still have that console, and requires no online connection to play.

This is NOTHING AT ALL like Netflix, where you pay a subscription fee and it lets you temporarily cache the movies to watch them, then they go away after the studio's deal expires.
