That's typical /vr/ OLD GOOD NEW BAD. LoI is legitimately my favorite CV game with simple but satisfying gameplay, Leon is a likeable Belmont, and the aforementioned soundtrack is fantastic.
Curse of Darkness is very different from typical CV and I could see how that would turn old-school fans off, but I feel it's still quite good and worth at least one playthrough.

But yeah, after that, you can avoid all the other 3Dvanias.
