While the gameplay was a big step back from the previous entry, you’ll be hard pressed to find a more beautiful looking ps1 rpg than Saga Frontier 2

Minstrel Song isn't balls to the wall hard but it's very easy to fuck up compared to Frontier or Romancing SaGa 3, not to mention that it becomes a pain if you miss to many quests.

It's a good idea to play Frontier 2, period.
Problem is you gotta be extra careful if you want to play blind, and using guides ruins the experience anyway.
If you want to play it so bad I'd really suggest you to get used to the system with Frontier and Romancing SaGa 3 beforehand.

It's probably both, it's one of those games that could very possibly be immune from aging.
