The question of Bubsy is not "how to bring him back to greatness?", it's "How could we have made Bubsy GOOD to begin with?"

In Bubsy's defense...Bubsy II was okaaaay. Notice I had to stretch that a bit.

I think the comic book instruction manuals were more entertaining than the games. I think Bubsy II was okay...at least it had the Nerf Ballzooka as a projectile weapon.
