Anons who played Scourge of Armagon & The Dissolution of Eternity: have you seen its original trailer? What do you think about it? How would you described them in "expectations vs. reality" form?
In other words, what impressions you get from the trailer and what are your actual thoughts on mission packs.

These are valid suggestions with potential, but you forget something...
>But i know if they do a reboot theyll figure out a way to shoehorn some EPIC LORE about how theyre connected to the lovecraftian stuff.
They already did. Kind of. That's how it appears.
All this Gilman stuff, Visor's design and Makron talking about runes and magic in Quake Champions' lore texts, id Software already started it.

>>9754045 is right. It is "he" in Quake's manual.

Uh-h-h... Technically, we can't talk about that game here as it isn't retro. But we have talk about Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, who is also in Xbox Insider Preview.
That's not a sign of a re-release like Quake or classic DOOM titles got in recent years. They're just preparing those two for Game Pass.

I've been actively lurking here for around 2 years now (Don't really remember for how long, honestly) since these threads are just damn nice. Thank you for keeping it going. Maybe one day I stop being an indecisive coward and do some mapping, modding... any kind of useful stuff instead of whatever I am doing now. To proper give back to this safe haven where I escape from shitty reality.

You should avoid each of them on its own. You knew how this would end.
>>Quake 2 is going to be a thing soon
Really? I doubted that because of RTX and have similar logic when it comes to Quake 3 Arena and Live. The more re-releases like that we get, the better. They don't even need to be the best: just be good either for first time experience on PC and consoles.
>>Microsoft wants Quake back on track, QC it still a good idea, but it needs a "Realm Reborn" and i am not memeing out of it.
Interesting. I was saying that Champions needs a 2.0 version and new Quake (if in development) should focus on single player because of that for a while now.
>>Netquake is a thing, yes, but QuakeWorld Client is a thing later.
Honestly, I prefer NetQuake. Hope they'll improve ping and stuff like that though.
>Mainly because Quake carried Windows on its back, and its the sole reason for Windows embracing OpenGL support in 98.
...and now this port has full support of Vulkan API only. But I suspect that they would slightly improve DirectX11 because Microsoft.

I enjoyed this re-release so far: playing multiplayer and getting achievements. Will deal with DoE today and then only Dimension of the Machine will remain. Overall it's been a pleasant surprise because of both active/easy-to-access NetQuake and my desire to try myself in modding. This Enhanced version of Quake is perfect fit for a mod I was thinking about, but I'm still on "writing concept" stages.

They better at least add in updated models for Mission Packs and deal with team-focused modes shenanigans, so people could easily play DoE's Capture The Flag.

That's just amazing, anon. Great job. Seeing these updates is kind of inspiring... I really should stop being an indecisive loser and start writing down design notes for my own mod, see if I can use Trenchbroom properly on my laptop (+ other stuff for Quake modding) and look into programs like GIMP (for Pixel Art and in general since I also occasionally use Paint 3D) and Sekaiju (for making MIDI music): any recommendations are welcomed. Also revive my blog and see what I can do there.

I was set back by some shitty IRL stuff and there're more important things to do, but I think it's best to also somehow force myself to dive deeper into /vr/ related hobbies as that's what I find interesting.

This is just... Why? You can say "bad" or "cringe", but honestly it seems hard to just pick a specific word that would describe it properly. So you just have to be like "...why?"
I'm just complaining about my sorry ass though because this month has been pretty bad for me... Well, worse than usual. Apologize for that as that's not a right place for it.

Could've also posted a link to his stream:

It is a mess... How do you even play Deathmatch with so many people? There's probably some large map designed for this, yeah?

>How hard is it to mod Quake's guns?
Personally, I kind of interested in how to mod Quake on more broader scale >>7876608 and therefore probably shouldn't give any advice here, but will go from my observations anyway. Overall it seems like working on a mod for Quake isn't as hard as you might've think, but to me that's still mostly "what the hell am I looking at" when I tried to understand what is QuakeC. Just don't be like me and go for it instead of "I know I can't do it/Nobody would care anyway/It's going to be shit/etc."
The best you'll get is most likely from an anon that works railgun for Violent Rumble, obviously. If he wouldn't be around to answer now, you can always wait for his appearance to ask then.

Decided to play some Deathmatch through QSS before going to sleep... and this shit was a lot of fun, actually. Seriously. There were a couple of bots, but also some people jumped it. Nobody talked and we just killied each other all the time.
Despite being a guy with highest ping and being on DarkPlaces server, I managed to have the most frags there and I would say map knowledge really is the key here: some stuff I remember, but it wasn't too hard to learn my surroundings. At first I wasn't that lucky since I joined midway on DM6, but next two rounds were in Tower of Despair and Introduction: I basically dominated them. Latter was actually more easier since nobody even tried to take that Quad Damage. Great first time of proper Quake multiplayer experience... or not really as that's a NewDM mod. Which is ironic since it asks to provide feedback on QuakeOne and some anon(s) talked about it being dead: it seems to be true since I can't find anything about this mod.
Anyway, I need some sleep.

Agree. Basically I'm sitting only here and these threads are pretty comfy. Even though being a regular anon on 4Chan is probably not something to be proud of, but at least I get to talk about random stuff I'm interested in with other nerds & losers like me and sometimes even have an illusion of being useful in some cases... I should get some sleep instead of writing cringy posts like this.
To make up for it, I'll point out that Clovr should have some Zandronum server running at the moment. I don't know which since I don't have it installed and I'm not the one who hosts it.
