It's actually the famicom version, translated and put on another cartridge that used Konami's audio expansion chip. That was a pretty challenging cart to do since I had to move the audio chip to the back of the board in order to fit everything iside, and I had to file down some spots on the cartridge and the board to make everything fit. In the end it turned out really nice though.

If it was any smaller my Castlevania 3 Japanese Audio reproduction wouldn't have worked.

I made a reproduction cartridge of it with the Japanese enhanced audio. It's one of my favorite NES games.

I had a good experience with gamereproductions.com. They provided the Eprom chips for my Caslevania 3 FC Audio repro cart. For the two chips I paid about $10 because they were having a sale, and they're having a sale right now. The only catch is that you might have to wait like a month for a custom order, so you'd better not be in a rush if you order from them.

While you're waiting for your EPROMs to arive, I recommend repairing some old broken systems. It'll take your mind off of the long wait and keep your soldering skills sharp.

It's been a long time coming but my translated / localized Akumajo Densetsu EPROMs finally arrived from GameReproductions. Today was quite an exciting day because my FC Audio Castlevania 3 cartridge project has been on hold for at least a month while I waited for the EPROM chips to get here.

Installation onto the Madara board went pretty smoothly. I got a new solder sucker that works a lot better than the old douche-shaped one so desoldering the old ICs wasn't too hard. I also made sure to swap the leads on the A0 and A1 legs of the VRC6 chip, as that kind anon from a thread or two ago suggested. The game would be a horrific glitchy mess with distorted music otherwise.
