Retard question:
I'm trying to patch a ROM of Clocktower (SNES) using an IPS patch by Aeon Genesis (https://www.romhacking.net/translations/302/)), but I always get a corrupt file even though the original ROM CRC is matching.
What am I doing wrong?

Is this a joke post?

>I feel that turn based rpgs of the random encounter variety are the kind of thing that could only be invented by Japan
Japan didn't invent anything. Random encounters have been a staple of RPGs ever since D&D.

>figuring out what the game wants from you
>It's a test of how well you can adapt yourself to purely external standards
Literally all games are about limiting your actions according to a ruleset. Not just RPGs, but even stuff like Chess or Checkers. You can't have a game without limiting player agency: what you get if you don't is a simulation, which is a different thing than a game.

>Ultimately, the gameplay of the genre exists mostly in the decisions that are made before battles even start, in gear, equipment, and later ability decisions
>You're essentially watching an auto-battler
Holy shit, stop playing mainstream games. Not all RPGs are like this. In fact, the majority aren't.

>the genre has more or less died off in favor of arpgs
Objectively wrong: Pokémon is still the best selling media franchise in the history of humanity and it's strictly turn-based.
>their main appeals were story and spectacle
If you were a random normie, maybe.
>Kingdom Hearts (especially on the higher difficulties) blends together the sensibility of turn based games with more involved gameplay and doesn't seem to lose anything.
Pic related.

>humans are literally the villains of FFVII
WTF am I reading? Literally the whole point of FFVII was that all human society (including ShinRa and, therefore, Midgar) was being controlled by an alien parasitic lifeform who mind-controlled its subjects by infecting them with its cells and telepatically communicating with each others.
Humans are the victim, not the culprit.

RCT2 is just a repackaged, improved version of RCT1. Not like you care, as either you want people to notice you, or are genuinely butthurt about the 'problem' that this thread poses to /vr/.
