Fuck 4. It is pure, irredeemable trash for midwits. From the onset it is clear which role falls to whom, that Fou-Lou is destined to be the grrr 100% bad guy, and Ryu the good one. As such, Fou-Lou's segments are utterly pointless because every event's outcome is predetermined to be negative. If the game had but a quantum of depth, if it wasn't so cowardly and trite, Mami would have survived, to put Fou-Lou's plan to eradicate humanity into jeopardy. But no, that would add complexity, and the bad guy is destined to be the bad guy, so that is conveniently removed for him.

Removed is also the mystery and adventure. The bad guy sits waiting, and where he sits is where the hero's trite trek leads to. Instead of hijacking a mysterious freighter to set off to unknown shores or exploring an enigmatic station in the desert, we are walking to the capital. Excitement abounds. As boring as the story are the playable characters, with the sole exception being the trash can, but considering how awful the whole game is, it should be chalked up as fluke instead of a deliberate creation. What are the motivations of characters such as Scias and Ursula? Oh I don't remember and frankly neither do I care.

The gameplay itself is also neutered, the cool gene system boiled down to what's basically the warrior from 3. Yes, it is usually the most effective form. You know what's even more effective? Replacing the whole battle system with fucking Excel. I want to turn into a dragon knight robot and fire rockets from its huge head, I want to turn the whole party into a fat angry turtle and rain trash on the enemy! They even gimped the fishing and don't get me started with the other minigames, such as shoveling sand. Fun! Lastly, as a final fuck you, whereas 3 ended with a notion of hope, this garbage ends with a slimy fuck scheming. Because bad is what a midwit expects from it.
