Me too. Our family had an old 486 that we set up in the basement which I basically turned into my personal NES emulation machine. I used the SNES replica pad you can see on the bottom right of this pic here, it was really comfy

What I remember
>playing Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle and writing down passwords on a notepad because the concept of savestates elluded me
>playing Famicom game Samurai Pizza Cats, unreleased outside of Japan, with a 10% complete translation that just showed garbage text after the first couple of cutscenes
>playing a bad dump of Batman Returns which was impossible to beat. Much later on I found out they had modified the title screen and in so doing triggered the anti-piracy routine which made level 3 loop and unbeatable
>playing some of my old NES games that we had given away to my cousins (who weren't even allowed to play, what a waste) like SMB2/3, Tiny Toons Adventures, etc
>we never had SMB1, only played it at friends homes, so I finally beat it, without being aware of the continue code

20 years later I took revenge on Batman Returns by making a romhack which disables the anti-piracy routines

I first emulated using Nesticle in 1998 using the pad that came out with Street Racer which you can see at the bottom here. On a 486 in my parents basement (while the newer computer was upstairs), it was super comfy.

It wasn't that common but the PC version of Street Racer came out with a faux SNES pad and it was a selling point for me, I then used the pad for all my emulation needs with Nesticle etc
