Look into SRPGs. I find them way more interesting than traditional JRPGs.

This one is great, so is Vandal Hearts.

OP here, started pic related. Liking it quite a bit so far. The aesthetic is a lot better than Final Fantasy, the story is pretty good and most of all it gets straight to the point.

True, It's the exact opposite of a JRPG, customizable characters, randomly generated dungeons, no story or cutscenes, just dungeon crawling and combat. I like things that are a happy medium between the two.
