Mega Man 4 is my favorite, but it was the downfall of the series' original concept. Which is to collect weapons and use them to complete stages.

MM 4 gives you the charge buster, so why would you need special weapons to complete stages? You can still use the weapons you obtain, sure, but there's no demand that you do so because you already have the charge buster.

Still think Mega Man 4 is one of the best action games for the NES. It's just not the best "Mega Man" game, because the original concept--to collect and use weapons in situations that demands them--is lost.

Pound-for-pound, I'd rank the Mega Man games like this

2 > 3 > 4 > 5 > 1 > 6

Though it's just my opinion. And also, I found MM 6 to be annoying and have forgettable robot masters.
