Yeah... I wonder why they made the NES controllers so sharp on the edges. The original Famicom ones are rounded on the edges.

I'm pretty sure that's a NOAC (NES on a chip), not an actual clone of the Famicom.
I think NOACs are still retro though (made before 1999), but don't quote me on that.
Real famiclones are mostly from the early to mid 90s, and nowadays are probably not that easy to find, the market has been flooded with NOACs.

Original early 90s Family Game. The best. Basically exactly like the original Famicom.

This.
Early 90s Family Game systems are clones of the Famicom and looks virtually identical. Doesn't get better than those.
But they're not that easy to come by. There's collectors for those, too.

Yie-Ar Kung Fu and many other older Famicom games were compiled on Famiclone multicarts, way before those N64/PS1 bootleg versions of Famiclones existed.
I got pic related in 92, with a 30 in 1 multicart, and sure enough Yie-Ar Kung Fu was included there. Some other classic Famicom games that were included there but never made it to the NES were TwinBee, Battle City, Field Combat, Circus Charlie, among many others.

Is this the most iconic video game system of all time?
>b-but NES!
NES was only released in a few countries.

'85 here, got my Famiclone around 1992, I was 5 or 6.
Played the shit out of it until 1994 when I got both SNES and Mega Drive.
I think it's possible.
My younger cousin born in '88 only got a SNES some years after I did, before that he also played Famiclone.

Actual early 90s clones and carts have a certain value.
NOACs and modern "repro" carts, not so much.

Early 90s "Family Game" clones are the best. Virtually identic to original Famicom.

I grew up with pic related and I don't regret it. Lots of good games, many of which were Japan-only.
I was surprised to find out americans or NES owners never played classics like TwinBee or Battle City.

Polystations are very low quality.
Early 90s Famiclones is where it's at. Practically the same as a real Famicom.

OG standard Family Game from the early 90s best clone.

Born 85, my first contact with video games was my family's Coleco Vision probably around 88 or 89 as far as memory goes. Then I got my first own console, a Famiclone, in 1990 or 91.

I grew up with a famiclone, so I'm more inclined to the original FC design.
Besides, I never understood why the NES and its carts needed to be so big.
I also don't like the controller, Famicom is rounder and more comfortable to hold.

early 90s Famiclones are pretty good, but they aren't easy to find by now, and for the price they might be asking you're better off getting a real Famicom.

Just a Famicom clone without any weird bullshit.

These "funstation"/"polystations" used to be called Family Game back in the early 90s, and they were actually much better quality, were basically clones of the japanese Famicom.
Newer ones are NOAC (NES on a chip)
