I've checked Adventures Of Batman And Robin and holy fucking cow. I'd NEVER check that game out because I'm not a fan of Batman nor any comic books for that matter. And I'd be damned because it's pretty great.

People who say 'durr genesis got shitty sound chip' literally don't know jack about synths. Good grief we got some nerds who knew a lot and programmed some beautiful soundfonts. I think YM2612 is the most underrated and underused and misunderstood piece of hardware of all /vr/ time.

What was the site that had thousands of music soundtrack rips? It wasn't https://vgmrips.net, it had newer stuff like PS1 osts. The interface was a basic list of files with a search function. I can't for the life of me find it again.

I always liked the sound of the genny, the synths always had a kind of electric guitar sound to them which made the tunes in games sound really rock like. I always dug it.

Popular opinion has always convinced me that the YM2612 is a superior sound chip than the YM3438. But honestly, after listening to this comparison, I actually really like the way the YM3438 sounds. The audio just sounds like it's mixed better, in my opinion. It has better stereo separation and I like the dynamic range more. Percussion, especially, sounds nice.

The YM2612 sounds a bit less harsh, especially with higher frequencies, but it comes at the cost of sounding a little muddy. To me, it's harder to pick out certain instruments.

Really they both sound great, but the comparison is interesting.
