MvC2 was a rushed and lazy game. MvC1 had unique character themes, unique stages, unique assists, quotes after winning a match, endings for each character, 6 attack buttons. MvC2 characters are 90% reused assets and the new characters are literally whos that no one likes except for Tron Bonne, final boss was a literal who, medium attack buttons removed, reuses its own stages, neutered some of the character's movesets, removed the unique assist characters. You can like MvC2 more as a competitive fighter, but you can't say MvC1 didn't have anything over MvC2. If MvC2 came out today, it would get shit on just for the lack of new characters alone.
