RE0 was my least favorite cause it was basically you dealing with zombies while protecting your dumb partner, and that fucking grappling hook, but now I miss it....

>Players never liked challenge, any and all difficulty was designed to fuck with the player on purpose to sell strategy guides or to fuck with rentals. Yes of course that includes games only released in countries with no or very little rental or games that didn't have strategy guides. You see, this is why you should use savestates to fix those games, boomers are just stockholmed.

>Infinite height enemies
Literally the only thing that bothers me in vanilla Doom. Dying because you were trying to run off a ledge to avoid an enemy/projectile but there was a monster you couldn't see hugging the wall below is just bullshit

You see, that's the problem these days
Now people's biggest fear is being cringe so nobody enjoys fiction the same way they did 20+ years ago. Have you ever wondered why characters crack jokes all the time in Marvel movies? It's because people are afraid of being cringe by enjoying stories about superheroes so the movies constantly uses quips to tell the audience "haha don't worry we're all in on the joke, we all know this is silly and we're not taking this seriously so don't worry you're not cringe for watching this"
Fiction is now dead because of this

It looks extremely consumerist in a very strange and offputting way. Like "how do you do fellow retro gamers I love video games too". I feel like the kind of person who makes or enjoys these kinds of images also collects funko pops. It looks like it's more about being part of the culture and hobby rather than genuinely enjoying the hobby itself

>they don't replace the original what does it matter!!

They do though. Every website talking about the game will now use the remaster as a base for all screenshots and information. 99% of all new players will now use the remaster.
(Remakes also do that but to a much lesser extent, have fun googling Resident Evil 2 see what happens.)

So when a remaster is shit, yes, it does harm the game. Case in point: Duke Nukem 3D Megaton Edition, which was a glitchy mess, it made the original game glitches a LOT easier to pull off, and introduced new glitches of its own. The result: speedrunners using that version for easy-glitch runs since then, even AFTER that version was taken down; and since then Duke Nukem 3D has a reputation for being this glitchy mess game from the average retard, I mean person. People "in the know" will use EDuke32 but that doesn't change how harmful Megaton was and still is to the game's reputation. The worst thing being the majority of people out there will swear by Megaton and recommend it and claim it's better than the next version, World Tour, even though that one was a NOT a glitchy mess and added new features not present in the og like true widescreen.

tl;dr stop saying that a bad remaster is, in the worst case, not a big deal. It is not true.

Man, 3.31 being OEM only is so dumb. It's not a problem these days since you can easily download it from the internet but still. It's pretty much the ultimate version of DOS for systems with only 640k of memory

That was the time period pushing towards "let's become movies!", it was a thing of the time, pushing further and further away from skill based arcade gaming.

Nowadays things have evolved to the point where both styles can coexist, but at the time your regular skill based arcade gameplay was seen as "dated 90's shit" and "let's copy what was cool on cinema last year" was "omgz such revolution video games are growing and are so adult just like myself!!"

The same people who *now* are telling you he was wrong, back then would have said he was right. This was the period of """"hardcore gamers"""" whereas now we're deep into the "retro cool" period.

Really now? 'cause I can't think of any example where that's the case
