Back when the kex release of Quake got released some anon was posting webms of them editing the textures of some enemies to add more blood, using Substance or Armor Paint, with the tools seeming to work fairly well with low res textures.
Are there any guides out there on how to use those programs for that? All I can find are guides about modern resolutions since this is a niche application and the only other person using Substance for these resultion that I know of is/was circumsoldat.

>How hard was it to make these models and what did you used in the process?
it's not hard, but it is finicky, both working around existing vertex animation, and texturing with 20 pixels to work with. it took a while to figure out the first one, others took about a workday each. used blender and substance painter.
