Ah. The good old days! My parents were both born in the mid 60's, going through the college bar/arcade hangout era. Mom loved Pong when Atari was still a thing and dad always shot high score on Asteroids with his buddies. Meeting in their late teens and already taking care of my brother by 1986, my dad decided to buy a NES. Fast forward to 1989, the original GameBoy came out. I was born a day or two later. Growing up I got a little bit of Super Mario, Tetris and TMNT; mostly seeing my dad play. Fast forward a few years, and my brother had gotten a Sega Genesis. To this day, I still remember my mom freaking out over how violent Mortal Kombat was! Most of my friends had the Super Nintendo so what I didn't have I played at their house. Fast forward a few years and my mom was talking about Sony being the next big thing and how excited she was. I had no idea what she was going on about though. I was probably too distracted by Power Rangers or DragonBallZ, both of which ruled my universe back then. But I'll never forget the excitement when my brother and I found that big gray box under our Christmas tree. The following years would be some of my best memorable moments becoming an avid gamer. Playing Jampack Demo Discs, reading and subscribing to Playstation Magazine, tuning into TechTV to watch Extended Play to see which new games to get, Crash Bandicoot, Tekken, Resident Evil, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and let's not forget Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX to name a few of the games that defined my childhood. Friends had the Nintendo 64 and playing Smash Bros was fun, but I just felt it didn't offer the same things the PSone did. Thanks to the Genesis and the PSone, Nintendo was like a visitor in my life from time to time. I'll never forget when that changed though a year or two later when I got my first GameBoy Color and Pokemon was becoming a household name!

TLDNR; best years of my life. I feel bad for kids these days who won't get to experience games the same way
