I wonder why die-hard fans (besides kids and autists) still stick around for Sonic. As a Modernfag I gave up on the franchise after Heroes and having played Unleashed several years later, I'm mixed on the bootshit and feel it's used as a supplemental crutch in place of a more fluid momentum-based movement for Sonic.
Sega needs to stop trying to reinvent the wheel each and every time with Modern Sonic and just refine what worked in Adventure. Frontier better be the answer to this or else just retire the franchise already.

I wonder if it has to do with the teams behind them, how passionate they are about the project as well as how beloved the games are themselves. Add fan outcry too.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've seen, it's the niche games that tend to get the most love and to a degree, effort, put into them, while something like DQ is a saint among JRPGs just by virtue of it's legacy. Legend of Mana's remake is a fucking tragedy, but Trials' was a step in the right direction that I feel must've been due to the amount of backlash Legend got just on it's schizo 50-card-pick-up music alone.

Even Chrono Trigger's PC port -- while still not perfect -- never wouldn't been fixed if not for fans' complaints.

Because new FoTM, was rumored to be getting some form of remaster/make and because it's touted as one of those PS1 classics.

I was speaking in terms of the Remaster, not censorship as a whole because if you read the rest of the post and checked the post links, the censorship with this remaster is a non-issue. Adding more fuel to an already trash fire isn't going to make it any bigger.

Try a Retroflag's.
They're about 17 - 20 shekels and close to the real deal, I feel. Downside is they're a bit finicky to set up on Switch. They're D-input by default and if you turn off your Switch, you have to set the controller it to X-input each time you turn it back on and sometimes it won't pick up the controller right away.

Also from a lite-lurker's perspective, 8-bitdo gets marketed on here semi-often, ironic or otherwise. They have at pretty dominant presence in the retro market now with how many posters come here (and on /v/) mentioning it over lesser known brands.

Some anon's have expressed how shoddy they can be when it comes to the quality vs. the price while others have said "Works on my machine".
I've even heard some of the woes first hand from a streamer that has one and would regularly run into problems with it from time to time using it on PC.

TL;DR Your mileage may vary, but signs point to "It's shit"
