As a 32 year old fag lucky enough to have been there during the Golden Age, this doesn't make any sense to me either. I was a Nintendrone and my best bud was a Segafag, and we both enjoyed the other one's vidya. Schoolday afternoons was the best thing ever.

The early Goemon games.
The first game, Mr.Goemon for arcades is pretty cool and japanesey, it even fucking looks like an old japanese painting. The first 2 famicom games are still set in a somewhat "normal" feudal japan. The rest of the series is full of wacky anacronistic shit, so I don't know if that's what you are looking for or not.

There are other cool nes/famicom games too; Ikki, Legend of Kage ,Demon sword, Nazo no Murasame Jō, Yokai club and Tokaido Gojusan-tsugi.
There's also a Dragon Quest clone where you play as the son of Musashi and have to defeat Kojiro's ghost but I can't remember the name.

There's also Ninja masters for arcade and psx, and Kabuki Z for arcade.

Then there's Bushido Blade, wich doesn't really take place in feudal japan but lots of the stages and the "kill 100 ninjas" minigame could pass off as feudal japan shit, so you might want to give that one a try.

Face it, /vr/. You loved the console wars. You thrived during them. There was nothing better in life than calling Mario a slow fatass, or Sonic as being nothing but furrybait. The Super Nintendo just didn't have any 'blast' in its processing power, and the Genesis soundboard sounded like nails across a chalkboard. Maybe once in your childhood these fights actually came to physical blows, and that's when you felt most alive. Perhaps as the generations moved on you picked up the banner for the N64, or the Playstation, and for a while longer you were happy.
But eventually, you grew up. The world passed you buy. You were a soldier without a war and didn't know what to do with yourself. You tried to convince yourself that in the end it should have just been about the games, and you believed you were happy. That was a lie. What good is just playing games unless every knows - is MADE to know - that your console is the superior one? For years you meandered, with a cause, but ultimately without purpose.

Then came /vr/. Here soldiers of the console wars congregate once more, both ally and enemy alike. It is here you once again found your purpose. It is here were every console is the greatest gaming machine ever. It is here where every console ever is also an overrate piece of shit. The N64 has awful controls! The PS1 is the turning point where fratboy no-necks ruined gaming with hundreds of generic sports titles! The Saturn is just another demonstration of Sega's ineptitude! And the Game Boy? Why, that was never even a real system. The console wars live on here, and you love it. Welcome back, soldier. You're home.

I'm interested in letting people duke things out in real time, SOMEWHERE ELSE other than here. People who want to weigh consoles against other consoles and be extremely argumentative and opinionated should join this chat. Don't worry about moderating, there won't be much of it. As long as you don't spam stuff.

You can join it and you can argue with each other in real time. That way you guys who have no idea what you're saying can't run away for 5 hours and then reply when you've finally come up with something. You can be called out on your shit in real time. /vr/ doesn't deserve this anymore. It's a slow board and I'm not even sure people can even delete threads anymore, which is silly. If you can just do this one thing maybe I'd have closure and you would have closure too. Maybe after the chat everyone can become good friends and have a laugh about it.
