My first SANIC was the GG version of 2 back in 6th grade, I got it for Christmas in this Sonic-themed bundle with the GG itself, and it probably shaped my tolerance for being careful when it comes to bullshit instadeath level design. I could never get anything other than the fucked-up bad end though, also: take note of the viewport here
