It took me a log time to admit this because the game is so aesthetically pleasing and I want to like it, but yeah. It's got no flow to it, just pits and spikes and lots of stops and starts. Still looks amazing on my psp though

It's not about harder vs. easier. It's pretty easy either way. it's about not continuing to play in a way that you find boring when you don't have to.

I find random battles tedious after while so I turned them off. I get bored during summon animations so I don't summon. I enjoyed running around talking to NPCs and playing cards so I emphasized card modding over grinding. I do the things I actually enjoy and don't do things I don't enjoy and guess what, I enjoyed myself. Meanwhile in every FFVIII thread there's the same idiots who complain about how monotonous the gameplay is but refuse to consider playing it differently when there's a abundance of options staring them in the face.

Legend of Mana also. Everything about that game was max comfy except for the actual gameplay which was both tedious and piss easy. Fucking tragedy

"Thing I personally don't like" is not the definition of bad game design. By your metric Super Metroid is "shitty game design". Fucking zoomers, like seriously goddamn. CoD has completely and totally ruined an entire generation of gamers.
