If I remember right, it's an old French MAS-49 in 7.5×54mm (from just after WW2 I think), the one in the picture looks like it was chopped up and put together into something "tactical" by someone living in some state where they don't allow "assaultweapons".

A few were a little upset, but I frankly thinks it looks kind of neat.
