He has no personality, at all. There's nothing that makes Mario special. He's a garbage place holder sprite that could be replaced with literally anything with zero consequence.

Say what you will about the modern batch of Sonic games (they're shit. as much a sega fag as I am I ain't defending this shit.) but Sonic always had identifiable traits. Impatience, anti-authoritarianism, quote unquote "ATTITUDE" which is a cliche now but it's something.

Now I do like Mario games, they're some of the most solidly assembled platformers around. I just wish that the character itself was less vanilla if you get my drift. He himself is boring. It's always the same dumb fat smiling face and occasionally if you're lucky, Mmmmm spaghetti
